WOCA hosts Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers at Spiridon Cathedral in Seattle

2011 WOCA Lenten Vespers Season begins at St Spiridon Cathedral in Seattle

Clergy and faithful from Western Washington gathered for Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers marking the beginning of the 2011 Lenten Season. During this Great Lent season, WOCA sponsored Vesperal services will be held at various churches in Western Washington. A short sermon is presented by WOCA clergy at the conclusion of each Vespers service. Come and Pray with us during this Great Lent season!

St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral hosted WOCA Vespers for the first time - 03/08/09

Ushering in the 2009 season of Great Lent, we celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy at St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Seattle's Capitol Hill District. Local clergy and faithful from the Greater Seattle and Puget Sound area joined together celebrating the Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers. Upon entering the Cathedral, local clergy and faithful venerated Icons and relics of Saints arranged in a semi-circular fashion beneath the Cathedral's grand chandelier. The service wasn't complete without Clergy and Faithful processing round St Nicholas Cathedral amidst Seattle's skies mixed with sunlight and later with a bit of hail and snowflakes. Vespers concluded with a short homily delivered by Fr John Strikland of St Katherine Mission (OCA) of Kirkland in Seattle's Eastside.
